Handbags for everything... but the kitchen sink

Tootie & Carla have way too much experience with kitchen sink syndrome to let all the lovely ladies out there walk around with large, shapeless and somewhat boring handbags.

Just because we need to be equipped for any situation doesn’t mean we can’t look fabulous. Sometimes a handbag is all a woman needs to be stylish, and this is where we have chosen to step in.

Our designs and sometimes daring colours aim at making more of an exclamation than a statement, while the quality of the leathers and craftsmanship remain a priority. Tootie & Carla bags are crafted on a small scale in an intimate workshop with a focus on producing affordable luxury.

The brand

Who is Tootie?
Tootie is Victoria’s nickname, stemming from an intense childhood obsession with Vincente Minelli’s fantastic musical “Meet me in Saint Louis” starring Judy Garland. Eventually, it just seemed fitting that Victoria’s siblings fondly rename her after Judy Garland’s little sister
in the film: Tootie.

But then who is Carla, you ask?
Carla - or Nonna Carla - was Tootie’s grandmother, a Milanese seamstress who taught Tootie to love all things immaculately made, beautiful fabrics, leathers, and impeccable tailoring.

Who the hell are we?

Tootie & Carla is the “accidental” brainchild of Victoria de Mallmann. The brand was conceived following the purchase of a trendy, beautifully made, fabulously inspirational handbag during a fun-filled trip to Bali, where the quality of the craftsmanship and the laid-back vibe “hit the spot”.

A year after moving to Hong Kong, Victoria paired up with Geraldine to create the handbags they and their fellow housewives “desperately” needed but could never seem to find.

With over a decade of experience in the luxury watch industry, a marketing and executive background in multinational companies, and a funky blend of Italian, English, Swiss, French and Austrian roots, “Tootie” and Geraldine form a strong team bursting with creativity, motivation and common sense.
